our people
Dan Unger

“A great real estate development is about much more than the physical product. Creativity in every aspect of the deal – from structuring and financing to programming, architecture, and construction – all contribute to the overall success.”
backstory
My father studied Civil Engineering at Cornell, and having attended a few of his reunions growing up, I fell in love with the university. Having spent my high school years working hospitality jobs in restaurants, hotels, and tennis clubs, attending Cornell’s School of Hotel Administration was a natural fit.
One of my mentors at the Hotel School was Jack Corgel, who chaired the real estate department and encouraged me to take some development classes. It wasn’t long before I was hooked. After graduating, I was thrilled to be joining Tishman; development experience wasn’t to get for a recent graduate, and Tishman was working on some of the most exciting projects.

From the onset of my career, I have loved every aspect of development and have enjoyed working on some of our biggest projects. From traveling to Rio Mar every weekend to help sell units at the Ocean Villas to navigating the complexities of developing in New York City as the day-to-day project executive of the InterContinental Times Square, I am deeply grateful to have found passion in my work and the personal and professional growth that has come with it.
Looking ahead, I am excited about our future. Our pipeline is robust, and we are well positioned to deliver more exciting hotel and residential projects over the next few years. No one can time the market, but we have had plenty of past success developing during economic downturns and opening those projects during periods of growth. With any development, I know we will face a myriad of challenges, but I am confident that we will create value through a combination of creativity, resourcefulness, and discipline.
