our people
David Rothenberg

backstory
I was born and raised in Puerto Rico and was the first person in my family to go to college. After I graduated from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania, I ended up working at Salomon Brothers in their real estate finance group.
I joined Tishman in 1987 and immediately began working on some game-changing projects. For my first three years, I was living and breathing the Dolphin Swan, which turned out to be a trophy asset we still hold. A few years later, I was leading our deal in Rio Mar, which was something of scale and impact I am proud of today. I ran the deal from inception to end and left a tangible footprint in the form of a hotel and jobs in my hometown that will be a landmark for generations.

Over the next few decades as we expanded our platform and pivoted through cycles, I have evolved as an investor, but my mindset remains the same. I come to work excited that I can use my creativity to put deals together, solve issues and look for the non-obvious ways to create value.
When I think about where we are now as a platform, I am really excited about our future. We opened a new hotel during a pandemic, leveraged our knowledge of the market to opportunistically expand our footprint in Orlando and are still bringing a differentiated point-of-view to new deals. Our ability to act with conviction in the face of uncertainty has been the key to our success and will continue to differentiate us going forward.
